GAIN, Ashoka and BoP Inc. co-organized this event to catalyze a multi-actor consortium and begin developing concrete strategies to bring about a Nutrient Economy. The workshop brought together a small number of Ashoka Fellows and engaged business entrepreneurs and executives to present examples and discuss the following questions:

What is the farming landscape of the future, and how can it fully nourish the combination of people, food, and land?
What practical and innovative next steps can be taken to develop systems where nutrients in the soil connect directly to human vitality; where cultivation of rich soils leads to large scale, nutritious food production as well as good lives for the farmers?
How can we measure and value the “nutrient capital” of farming regions? How can this be translated in financial terms to represent new investment opportunities? (“Nutrient Banking”)
